Filling
Filling tablets, capsules or softgels into PET pots and providing lot numbers and expiration dates using inkjet printing is an important part of the production process in the pharmaceutical industry.
Morningstar Pharma can fill PET pots in different types and sizes. It does not matter to us whether they are tablets, capsules or softgels produced by ourselves or supplied externally. The following steps are taken in the process of filling PET pots.
Filling the pots
The first step is to precisely measure and fill the pots with the required amount of tablets, capsules or softgels. This process can be manual or automated depending on the scale of production.
Assign lot number and expiration date
Each product must be identified with a unique lot number and expiration date. This information is usually generated and managed by an integrated system, such as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Inkjet printing
Inkjet printers are often used to print the lot number and expiration date on the pots. These printers spray ink onto the surface of the packaging based on digital instructions. They are fast and efficient, and they can easily print variable information such as lot numbers and expiration dates.
Quality control
After applying the information, a quality check is performed to ensure that the printouts are legible and accurate. This may include visual inspection and/or automatic control systems.
Packaging and distribution
After quality is confirmed, the pots are packed and prepared for distribution.
